ABOUT US
From the humble beginnings of learning weightlifting to starting the Barbell programs at various fitness facilities and strength and conditioning gyms surrounding the Northern Virginia Area, we have reinforced our core knowledge of not only weightlifting and barbell clubs, but strength sports in its entirety. We have had vast success growing over the course of the last few years, from hosting internal mock meets, coaching groups of athletes at national meets, to coaching adults who have never touched a barbell in their life. We take immense pride in our coaching ability to adapt and give athletes a fluid, satisfying, and productive experience in strength sports. We've branched off from our beginnings, the established gyms and internal barbell clubs - by creating our own brand. Just Commit Performance. With 2 USAW Certified coaches, we are capable of providing superior coaching to all levels of athletes wishing to pursue weightlifting.
James (Riccardo) Combs
Spanning years of playing several sports throughout high school, James focused on football and excelling in every aspect. Committing to University of Florida his senior year as an all around athlete, he was unfortunately later plagued by injuries in his few years on the team. In 2012, James was introduced to Crossfit where he learned that form is function; applying that philosophy to all of his training. Having experienced a plethora of different strength training variations, James started with body building, moved to powerlifting, then strongman, and even performed in the CrossFit realm for a few years until he found his passion for Olympic weightlifting. Pulling from his vast background of sports that built sound movement patterns, he seeks to help people understand their own bodies and ultimately become better athletes. James is currently in school pursuing a bachelors in B.S. Kinesiology, from there his course leads him to a PhD of Physical Therapy
Alex (Little Big Leg) Persinger
Starting back in high school, Alex not only played tennis but coached as well - which is where his love for coaching began. The real journey started at the introduction of Crossfit and the opportunity to coach at large, renowned facility in Frederick MD. From there, he branched out to several different niche sports - strongman, weightlifting, and cycling. Competing in several Crossfit and Strongman competitions along the way, the sport that captured and channeled his love of competing and coaching was Weightlifting. With a CF-L1 and USAW Level 1 certification, Alex learned as much as possible during his tenure under more experienced coaches, physicians, and practitioners and is ready to apply his broad knowledge bank to the sport of weightlifting.
Coach Sarah. Teacher by day, lifter by night, don't let her smile fool you - she'll break down your lifts and won't hold back. With a background in dance, Crossfit and Muay Thai, the transition to weightlifting was smooth. Coaching was a natural fit as she teaches during the day.
